In 1999 after graduation from the Academy he was invited by a New England, US based art group “Bay Arts” to take part in their exhibitions and activities and spent a year in the United States.
Says Andrew: “This year in America gave me more as an artist then all 8 years of my formal studies in many better Russian academies. I am a descendent of farmers, and I was impressed by the New England’s landscapes, and how a man in America avoids harming its environment. I also visited ArtExpo NY 200, and after seeing Royo and Pino suddenly realised what direction I want to take in my art. After staying for a year in the United States, I spent two years in Russia perfecting my art, and at the same time sold my works of two different styles under two different names “Andrew Batura” and “Andre Mare”. My paintings were sold successfully in the United States, in galleries across Florida, California, Ohio and Arizona. I also took part in a variety of group exhibitions and auctions in France, both Paris and province. Very important role in my life plays my family – wife Maria and daughter Alexandra. Maria is an art critique, and she helps me in my work. Alexandra was for a long time my inspiration and main hero of my paintings, mostly the ones I sold in France. In the United States I was successful in selling such subject matters as jazz musicians, coffee shops, romantic couples”.
During 2001 Andrew made sketches for sculptors for the Norwalk based company “MBI”.
In 2000-2005 Andrew worked with dealers from Western Europe and the US, exhibiting and selling his paintings in such US galleries as “Valentina” of Carmel, CA, “Elite” of Scottsdale, “Vendome Galleries” in Beverly Hills & Desert Springs, “Collectors Fine Art” In Las Vegas & Hawaii. His works were sold on art auctions in Nice, Lion and Paris, France, as well as twice his paintings were sold on Sotheby’s Internet Auctions (in 2002 & 2003). Four of his images were published in 2004 by Vendome Editions of Beverly Hills as limited edition prints (and printed by Eclipse Workshop), and sold out exclusively through Wentworth Galleries.
